Biography

Kathy Gibson is a Professor at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. A graduate of the UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and has also completed postgraduate studies in biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Before joining the faculty in 2012, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Rice University. In addition to her academic duties, Dr. Gibson maintains a private practice in general dentistry, where she specializes in treating individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. She has been actively involved in professional organizations, serving as a member of the American Dental Education Association and the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists. Dr. Gibson is also a past president of the Ninth District Dental Society and has chaired the Star South Dental Meeting. Her contributions to dental education include directing multiple courses and electives on diagnosis, treatment planning, ethics, and practice management.
