Biography

Kathy Ingram is a lecturer at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. She has a PhD in Politics from Princeton University, which she obtained in May 2023. Ingram's research focuses on international security, particularly the international aspects of civil conflict, and the relationships between sponsoring states and proxy rebel groups. A central theme of her work examines how alliances and rivalries among state sponsors influence their proxies. Regionally, she concentrates on the Middle East and North Africa. Ingram's approach relies on formal theory, especially contesting principal-agent models, complemented by qualitative case studies. Prior to joining Yale, she served as an instructor in the Social Science Division at NYU Abu Dhabi. Ingram earned her BS in regional comparative studies with a concentration in the Middle East from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
