Dr. Kathy Marsh

Biography

Kathy Marsh is the Associate Dean of the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science at the University of San Diego and is also affiliated with the Beyster Institute for Nursing Research. With a PhD from the University of San Diego, Dr. Marsh oversees graduate degrees and international programs, focusing her research on pediatric populations and families, particularly those managing Type 1 Diabetes. Her doctoral dissertation concentrated on adolescents transitioning from pediatric to adult care. With 35 years of nursing experience, she has expertise in patient care management within clinical and academic settings, working across various specialties including neonatal and pediatric care, nursing education, and clinical trials. Dr. Marsh has received specialized training and certifications in Critical Care, Post Anesthesia, Pediatrics, and Clinical Research. Her commitment to underserved populations led her to serve as a Speaker for the California Assembly and as a Commissioner for the California Healthcare Workforce Policy Commission, where she focused on increasing diversity in the healthcare workforce. She is also dedicated to education and volunteerism, having been involved with Camp Wana Kura, which supports children with diabetes. Dr. Marsh is a regular presenter at local and national conferences, discussing topics such as transitioning adolescents with diabetes into adult care and the onboarding of adjunct faculty in nursing.
