Kathleen Sitter joined the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary in 2017 as a Canada Research Chair in Multisensory Storytelling Research Knowledge Translation. A full professor and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University, she has worked in various areas including disability, mental health, human rights, and healthcare. Kathleen leads the Multisensory Studio, a lab focusing on creating blended sensory arts-based methods for research design and knowledge translation. With over $11 million in research funding, her multisensory activities include over 200 arts-based works, juried screenings, and exhibitions. Her creative forms of knowledge translation encompass films, cartoon abstracts, soundscapes, and participatory videos, among others. Kathleen focuses on developing and evaluating digital storytelling as a therapeutic intervention and identifying barriers and facilitators for youth with disabilities during life-stage transitions. She is also involved in advancing knowledge translation activities through unique installations and exploring accessible storytelling methods.
