Kathy Trieu is a public health nutritionist with a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney, where she also completed her Master of Public Health and Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition and Exercise Science. Currently, she serves as a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a Senior Research Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health. Her research focuses on addressing the burden of diet-related diseases, particularly the impact of nutrition on cardiovascular diseases and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Kathy is involved in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and interventions aimed at improving nutritional outcomes for populations globally. With extensive experience in translating research findings into policy and practice, she has conducted policy-oriented research in collaboration with governments and NGOs across ten countries, including Fiji, Samoa, and Kazakhstan. Kathy is currently supported by the NHMRC National Heart Foundation Australia early career fellowship and teaches courses on dietary assessment methods, public health policy, and NCD prevention in low- and middle-income countries.
