Biography

Katia Cnop is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Family Medicine and an Associate Medical Director for USC Street Medicine. She received undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Cnop worked in rural Guatemala as a Complex Care Coordinator for the Maya Health Alliance, which is a primary care organization that provides high-quality health care to indigenous Maya communities in their preferred language, demonstrating her commitment to underserved populations. After returning to the United States, she attended Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Family Medicine, along with a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, California. Dr. Cnop is passionate about serving marginalized and underserved populations and has specifically focused her efforts on unsheltered homeless communities in Los Angeles. Her research and publications include work on complex medical needs within indigenous Maya populations and the treatment of infantile haemangiomas in rural settings.
