Dr. Katie Bradford

Biography

Katie Bradford teaches undergraduate courses in communication theory and practices at the University of Texas at Austin. With a Ph.D. from the same institution, she focuses on helping students become introspective about their own perceptions of communication while developing their spoken and written communication skills. In her role at the Office of Career Life Design in the Graduate School, she designs and delivers workshops to assist graduate students in connecting their academic education with professional work opportunities. Bradford’s research primarily analyzes video-based data to illustrate how individuals integrate smartphone use into face-to-face conversations. She is trained in scholarly publishing and has experience as a professional editor, having collaborated with authors on scholarly manuscripts and overseen the development of college textbooks for Pearson Education. Her educational background includes a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in English Linguistics, and a Certificate in Scholarly Publishing from Arizona State University.
