Biography

Katie Chenoweth joined the Department of French and Italian as an Assistant Professor in 2013, after receiving her PhD in French Studies from Brown University in 2010. At Princeton, she has held various academic roles including teaching at Washington and Lee University and serving as a Harper-Schmidt Fellow at the Society of Fellows at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on the intersection of literature, philosophy, media studies, and history, with primary specializations in Renaissance (sixteenth century) literature and contemporary French thought, particularly the deconstruction work of Jacques Derrida. Some of her publications include the forthcoming book 'Prosthetic Tongue: Printing Technology and the Rise of the French Language' (University of Pennsylvania Press) and 'Strange Flowers: Radical Quotation in Montaigne and Derrida' (under contract with Northwestern University Press). She has also contributed to several journals such as Discourse and Montaigne Studies, exploring critical themes in media history, citationality, and their implications in modern thought.
