Biography

Katie Lais, DNP, PMHNP-BC, is a nationally board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Associate Professor at the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, University of San Diego. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, and continued her education with a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of San Diego. With 14 years of nursing experience across various specialties, including inpatient psychiatry, home health, and pediatric medical-surgical, Dr. Lais has focused on community psychiatry and addiction medication management. She has presented her quality improvement capstone project on treatment modalities for Iraqi refugees suffering from depression at the Western Institute of Nursing National Conference. Currently, she works in private practice within the San Diego community, serving older adults, and remains actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, California Nurse Practitioner Association, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her research interests lie in integrated healthcare, addiction medicine, and resilience/mindfulness.
