Dr. Katja Brøgger

Biography

Katja Brøgger is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University's Danish School of Education, focusing on education policy and governance. She serves as the Research Program Director and is currently involved in several large-scale research projects examining the intersections between geopolitical shifts and the rise of nationalism within European higher education. Katja has received funding from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for her research, highlighting her leadership in exploring the implications of new nationalisms on universities across Europe. In addition to her research work, she holds important roles in various committees and advisory boards, such as the Research Committee ARTS and the PhD Committee at Aarhus University and the Editorial Board of Globalisation, Societies and Education. Katja is passionate about advancing knowledge in the fields of education studies and political science, and she actively supervises postdoctoral and PhD students in her research areas. She has been appointed as a visiting scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University, and is set to examine the university experience against the backdrop of current socio-political challenges. Through her teaching, she contributes to the development of future education leaders by offering courses on advanced education administration and governance. Her research interests include education governance, the European Higher Education Area, Open Science, and the impact of neologisms like neoliberalism and illiberalism on educational frameworks.
