Biography

Katja Weber is a Professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she focuses on institution-building in Europe and the Asia Pacific region, as well as sovereignty-related human rights norms and non-traditional security challenges. She earned her PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Weber has authored several key publications including 'Hierarchy Anarchy: Transaction Costs Institutional Choice' and co-authored 'Cultures Order: Leadership, Language, Social Reconstruction Germany Japan.' Additionally, she co-edited 'Governing Europe's Neighborhood: Partners Periphery?' and has contributed to various academic journals such as the Journal of European Integration and International Studies Quarterly. Her research interests also include governance, international security policy, and regional security challenges, particularly in the context of globalization. Dr. Weber has received research support from prestigious organizations including the Social Science Research Council and the American Political Science Foundation. She has held visiting scholar positions, including at the University of Tokyo and the National University of Singapore. At Georgia Tech, she directs the Southeast Asia Summer Study Abroad Program and teaches a variety of courses related to international affairs and security.
