Biography

Katlijn Haesebrouck is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Maastricht University. She holds a Ph.D. from KU Leuven in Belgium. Her research and teaching focus on managerial accounting control, with particular emphasis on behavioral approaches and experimental methods. Katlijn’s research explores how management control systems influence behavior within organizations, particularly focusing on knowledge sharing practices. She investigates how incentive systems and organizational hierarchies affect employees' willingness to share information and the propensity for information misreporting. Her work has been published in prestigious journals including the Accounting Review and Accounting Organizations Society. Katlijn is currently involved in a project funded by the Foundation Auditing Research, titled "Culture Controls Audit Firms," which examines the use of cultural control mechanisms in audit firms in the Netherlands and their impact on quality objectives and auditor behavior. In addition to her research, Katlijn actively participates in academic service, serving on the editorial boards of Behavioral Research in Accounting and Management Accounting Research, and is a board member promoting diversity at Maastricht University's School of Business and Economics. She also coordinates and teaches courses in managerial accounting and information management, supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students.
