Biography

Katlyn Nemani is a neuropsychiatrist and physician-scientist at NYU Langone Health, dedicated to providing compassionate care to patients with an understanding of neuropsychiatric conditions. Dr. Nemani's work is guided by the principle of optimal treatment through advances in clinical research, which require a cross-disciplinary approach that bridges traditional boundaries. She is a board-certified psychiatrist and neurologist, specializing in the treatment of disorders that span brain and behavior. Her expertise includes evaluation and treatment of psychiatric symptoms associated with neurologic illness and the management of schizophrenia and mood disorders. Her primary research interest is in understanding the role of the immune system in psychiatric illness, particularly psychosis. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, she found that individuals with schizophrenia faced a significantly higher risk of mortality and reduced antibody responses to vaccination. Her current research investigates autoantibodies as potential treatment targets for schizophrenia.
