Professor Dr. Katy Haralampides

Biography

Katy Haralampides is a professor specializing in Environmental Hydraulics. She leads an active research program in ecohydraulics, participating in multidisciplinary projects that utilize numerical and physical models to understand dynamic river processes and sediment transport. Her research often focuses on interactions between aquatic species and the hydrodynamic complexities in ecologically significant areas, such as the Port of Saint John and the Bay of Fundy. Additionally, she is involved in developing sediment transport models for the Wolastoq|Saint John River as part of the Mactaquac Aquatic Ecosystem Study financed by NSERC. Beyond technical research, Katy is passionate about integrating social justice issues into engineering education, aiming to foster diversity and equity within the profession while reshaping the future of engineering ethics.
