Kavita Radhakrishnan received her PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania's New Courtland Center for Transitions and Aging. She has received over $6.8 million in funding from the National Institute of Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Institute of Nursing Research at the National Institutes of Health for her randomized controlled trials examining the use of digital gaming and connected sensors in managing cardiovascular diseases. Radhakrishnan has authored more than 50 articles and is involved in teaching health information systems and nursing research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has served in various advisory roles, including with the American Heart Association, and currently is a board member of the City of Austin's Asian American Quality of Life Commission.
