Biography

Kawsar Ali received a B.Tech. degree from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India in 2011, followed by a Ph.D. degree from the National University of Singapore in 2018, specializing in electrical engineering. During his B.Tech. and Ph.D. studies, he worked as an Operations Officer at Indian Oil Corporation Limited, India. In 2018, Kawsar joined the Engineering Science Department of the University of Oxford as a post-doctoral researcher in the Power Electronics Group. In 2023, he became a Departmental Lecturer in Medical Power Electronics. His work focuses on a broad range of power electronics applications, which include microwatt-scale energy harvesting for the Internet of Things (IoT), kilowatt-level power conditioning for datacenters and electric vehicle applications, and megawatt-scale pulsed power processing for biomedical applications such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Kawsar's research interests encompass power electronics for transportation, grid, datacenter, and biomedical applications, as well as the use of GaN and SiC devices for high-power-dense converters and resonant power conversion techniques.
