Biography

Kaye Bemis, NP, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and the Chief Advanced Care Provider Clinical Research Manager in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Medical Center. She holds both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Master of Science in Primary Care/Adult Nurse Practitioner from Northeastern University. Since joining the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Medical Center in 2004, Kaye has actively engaged in a variety of quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety and care. Notably, she led a quality improvement initiative called SAFE (Screen, Access resources, Follow Elective Surgery) focused on optimizing preoperative screening processes. Additionally, she worked on the QI Hub to implement the “Meds Beds” initiative, which aims to improve patient compliance with medication regimens before discharge from elective surgery. In recognition of her efforts, she received the Advanced Practice Provider Clinical Excellence Award from BUMG in 2021. Kaye is also involved in teaching and evaluating Orthopaedic Surgery Residents and mentoring Advanced Practice Nurses. Publications attributed to her show a diverse engagement in clinical research across various platforms.
