Kaye Mitchell completed her PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, in 2004 and has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester since 2007. Prior to this, she taught at the University of Westminster for several years. Her research interests encompass twentieth century and contemporary literature, with a particular focus on gender and sexuality, as well as women’s experimental writing. During her career, she has published extensively on the politics of gender and sexuality, examining how these intersect with textual form and meaning. Her notable works include 'A.L. Kennedy' published by Palgrave in 2007, and her monograph 'Writing Shame' published in 2020, which explores the relationship between shame and femininity in contemporary texts. Kaye has also co-edited 'British Avant-Garde Fiction 1960s' released by Edinburgh University Press in 2019 and has been an Experienced Research Fellow with the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation. She is the co-editor of the OUP journal Contemporary Women's Writing and is actively involved in the Centre for the Study of Sexuality and Culture at her university.
