Biography

Kayla Wright is a senior lecturer at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in algebraic combinatorics. She has a rich educational background, having earned her PhD from the University of Minnesota under the mentorship of Gregg Musiker, and both her BS and MA from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Previously, she worked as a research postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oregon with Ben Young. In her research, she explores cluster algebras and representation theory, focusing on visualizing abstract mathematics diagrammatically. Kayla is dedicated to fostering an inclusive mathematical community and is committed to humanizing the understanding of mathematics. She is scheduled to speak at the ICERM workshop on 'Webs, Algebra, Topology, Geometry, and Combinatorics' in December 2025, as well as participating in a workshop at BIRS in Banff, Canada, in March 2026.
