Biography

Kazem Rahimi is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and a consultant cardiologist at the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. His research interests include hypertension, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and preventive cardiovascular medicine, utilizing various methodologies including individual-patient meta-analysis and large-scale decentralized clinical trials. He leads the Deep Medicine programme in the Nuffield Department of Women's Reproductive Health, focusing on the application of machine learning approaches to electronic health records and blood pressure lowering treatment trials. Kazem serves as Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Heart and has held various leadership roles including Deputy Chair of the NIHR Academy Panel and member of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship scheme. He is also an Advisory Board Member for Medtronic PLC's Renal Denervation Programme and co-founder of Zeesta Ltd. Throughout his career, he has contributed to guideline development in cardiovascular care and acted as an advisor to the World Health Organization.
