Dr. Kazuaki Negishi

Biography

I am an academic cardiologist and clinical trialist based in Liverpool, NSW, Australia. I hold the position of Professor and Chair of Cardiovascular Research. My clinical practice is as a consultant cardiologist at Liverpool Hospital within the South Western Sydney Local Health District. My career began in Japan, where I founded an echo laboratory at Gunma University and led a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, trainees, and sonographers. The lab is recognized as one of the leading academic echo laboratories in Japan. I have gained considerable experience attending and presenting at national and international conferences (AHA, ACC, ESC, ASE, EAVCI), showcasing cutting-edge research. My research encompasses basic science and clinical epidemiology, focusing on the therapeutic applications of ultrasound, multimodality imaging, and cardio-oncology. My work regarding air pollution and cardiovascular disease has garnered significant media attention, reaching over 434 million people worldwide, and has been incorporated into international clinical guidelines used by cardiology and oncology societies across more than 150 countries.
