Ke (Duke) Du is a Professor in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, completed in 2007. Prior to his doctorate, he earned an M.Sc. in Atmospheric Environment from Peking University in 2001 and a B.Eng. in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1998. His research interests focus on air emission monitoring and air pollution studies, including the development of optical remote sensing technologies for fugitive emission monitoring, the application of machine learning in emission monitoring and low-cost sensing, and the creation of chemiresistive sensors for ambient pollutant detection. Additionally, he investigates aerosol pollution source apportionment and health risk assessment related to volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Du has actively participated in university strategic initiatives like Energy Innovations for Today and Tomorrow and New Earth Space Technologies, advancing the roles of engineering in addressing contemporary environmental challenges.
