Biography

Kees Ahaus is a full professor in Health Services Management and Organisation at Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is the head of the Health Services Management and Organisation department and serves as the academic director of the Master of Health Business Administration at the Erasmus Center for Health Governance. Ahaus studied Industrial Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology and obtained his PhD in Economics and Business from the University of Groningen in 1994. His career includes a long tenure at TNO where he held leadership positions and he was a professor of Healthcare Management at the University of Groningen from 2004 to 2019. Since joining ESHPM in 2019, he has contributed significantly to the academic field, focusing on value-based healthcare, quality improvement, integrated care, lean management, healthcare operations, and healthcare financing. He has authored 90 international peer-reviewed publications and 10 books, successfully supervised 20 PhD students, and received several academic awards, including the NNK award in 2019 for his contributions to quality management. Ahaus also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Quality Care and Value-Based Services at ESHPM.
