Dr. Keith Abrams

Biography

Professor Keith R Abrams holds a distinguished position in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Warwick. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Biostatistics at Warwick Medical School and serves as an NIHR Senior Investigator Emeritus. His prior affiliations include academic positions at the University of Leicester and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His research primarily revolves around the development, evaluation, and application of translation (Bayesian) statistical methods, particularly in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Health Data Science. Professor Abrams has a keen interest in designing and analyzing clinical trials with a focus on methods that address treatment switching and extrapolation. Additional areas of expertise include evidence synthesis, variance in statistical, clinical, and methodological aspects, and using observational or real-world evidence to estimate comparative effectiveness. He is actively involved in various funded projects including trials on transcatheter aortic valve implantation and health economic impacts related to weight management services. He remains at the forefront of advancing statistical methodologies to improve healthcare outcomes, particularly for complex and rare diseases.
