Dr. Keith Choate

Biography

Keith Choate, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist specializing in human genetics and dermatology at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding genetic mechanisms underlying rare inherited mosaic skin disorders, contributing to the identification of novel genes and developing therapeutic approaches informed by genetic discoveries. His laboratory has identified the genetic basis for twelve disorders and has established the largest registries for ichthyosis kindreds, leading to breakthroughs in understanding the biological basis of disease. Dr. Choate is actively engaged in mentoring students at various academic levels and plays a crucial role in educating residents and fellows in dermatology. His clinical work encompasses treating a wide array of complex skin conditions, leveraging his expertise in genetic skin disorders to improve patient care. Alongside his research, Dr. Choate is involved in significant academic leadership roles, including serving as the Chair of Dermatology and Associate Dean for Physician-Scientist Development at Yale.
