Professor Dr. Keith Hampton

Biography

Keith Hampton, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University. His research focuses on social network analysis, and he is dedicated to enriching the educational experience of his students through research-rich teaching methods. Hampton's work studies the intersections between community relationships, digital technologies, social networks, and democratic engagement within urban environments. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto and an undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary. Prior to joining Michigan State University, he held several esteemed positions, including Associate Professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT, and Co-Chair in Communication and Public Policy at Rutgers University. He has garnered recognition for his contributions to understanding the impacts of technology on social behavior and community dynamics in contemporary society.
