Biography

B. Keith Jenkins received his B.S. degree with honors in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1977, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1979 and 1984, respectively. He is currently a Professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at USC, where he also serves as Program Director for the MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Machine Learning and Data Science) degree. His research has focused on the application of photonic computing systems, including work on the miniaturization of 3-D photonic computing systems, optical computer holography, and neural networks. He has been awarded the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award and has published extensively in areas such as neural learning algorithms and machine learning techniques in optical medical domains. His research interests include experimental and theoretical areas of parallel computing systems that incorporate electronics, photonics, and optics, along with advanced multidimensional displays and biologically inspired vision algorithms.
