Biography

Keith Johnson is a neuropsychiatrist with a particular focus on sleep/wake disorders and attention disorders, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He completed the NSW Institute of Psychiatry Fellowship in Intellectual Disability Mental Health at the Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and pursued additional training in Learning Disability in Oxford, United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he has held specialist rotations in Brain Injury and Epilepsy. Upon returning to Australia, he worked for five years at Wollongong Hospital, where he established the Brain Injury Clinic at the Illawarra Brain Injury Service (IBIS). His clinical work involved managing a wide range of neuropsychiatric comorbidities associated with neurological conditions, including epilepsy, movement disorders, and cerebrovascular disorders. He has collaborated with clinical psychologists and neurologists to run a psychoeducation program for functional neurological disorders (FND). Dr. Johnson completed a Master's in Medicine (Sleep Medicine) in 2017 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2022, which explored the neurophysiological underpinnings of insomnia and the short sleep duration subtype. He also holds an Advanced Training Certificate in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and a Master's of Public Health in Epidemiology from Harvard University.
