Biography

Keith Storey is a Professor of Geography at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Leicester in 1966, followed by a Master's degree from Simon Fraser University in 1969, and a PhD from the University of Western Ontario in 1977. He has had a prolific career at Memorial University, teaching Geography from 1971 until his retirement in 2009. After retiring, he took on the role of Honorary Research Professor of Geography at the Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development. His research interests involve the impacts of digitalization on fly-in/fly-out work arrangements in the mining sector, and the socio-economic impacts of large-scale resource projects. Additionally, he has focused on the growth and closure of resource-dependent communities across various regions including Newfoundland and Labrador, northern and western Canada, and Western Australia. Storey has published numerous influential works that explore the intersections between digitalization and regional development, with particular emphasis on the mining sector in Canada and Australia.
