Biography

Keith Tornheim began his career at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in 1981 as an assistant professor. He has published over fifty articles, primarily focusing on metabolism. His research initially revolved around the spontaneous oscillatory behavior of glycolysis in muscle extracts. Currently, Dr. Tornheim is involved in teaching metabolism to first-year medical and dental graduate students. He is a member of the Boston University Evans Center Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research, and serves as a mentor for graduate students at the Graduate Medical Sciences program. His research interests include the biochemical processes involved in insulin secretion and the role of phosphofructokinase in adipose mass and metabolic oscillations.
