Professor Dr. Keith Vandersys

Biography

Keith VanDerSys is a senior lecturer at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. He co-directs the Environmental Modeling Lab (EMLab) and co-founded PEG office of landscape + architecture, an award-winning design research practice in Philadelphia. VanDerSys's work explores innovative methods in landscape architecture through new media and fabrication technologies. His firm has received multiple accolades, including Honorable Mention in the Buzzard's Bay Bridge international design competition, the 2010 Emerging New York Architects Prize, and the Pew Fellowship in Arts. VanDerSys's research has been recognized in various prestigious publications, and he has contributed to numerous books on landscape architecture. He played a crucial role in the BIONIC team, which was selected by the Rockefeller Foundation's Bay Area Resilient by Design initiative, winning the American Society of Landscape Architecture 2019 Communication Honor award. His recent projects include significant research on shoreline mapping in the Galápagos Islands, underscoring his commitment to applying design solutions to environmental challenges.
