Biography

Professor Kelley Johnson has conducted research on a wide range of social policy issues both nationally and internationally. She has managed the national action research evaluation of the Stronger Families and Communities project with the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Her research includes attitudes towards poverty and services for older people and conducting evaluations for both government and non-government organizations. However, her main focus is on researching issues faced by people with disabilities, with a particular interest in gender, deinstitutionalization, community living, and sexuality in relationships. Professor Johnson has written extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has published five books, with her latest being 'People intellectual disabilities: good life?' co-authored with Jan Walmsley in 2010, published by Bristol University Press.
