Biography

Kellie Hames is a printmaker and educator originally from Minnesota, currently residing in Pittsburgh, PA. As an Adjunct Professor at the School of Art, she oversees traditional printmaking facilities in the Digital Print Studio, establishing and maintaining safety protocols, training students, and supervising their use of these spaces. Hames holds an MFA from Northern Illinois University and a BFA from Minnesota State University Moorhead. In 2012, she was accepted into the world-renowned Tamarind Institute to study fine art lithography and was solely chosen to continue as an apprentice printer, where she was awarded the Tamarind Master Printer Certification in 2013. Hames has participated in residencies at Atelier le Grand Village in central France, working collaboratively with a variety of artists. Her own work employs a variety of mediums and reflects on the intricacies and quirks of the neighborhoods and landscapes of the Midwest suburbs, often viewed through a surrealist lens.
