Biography

Kellie Thiessen is a registered midwife and clinician scientist with extensive clinical experience in maternal and child health. She has led the development of the inaugural Bachelor of Midwifery program at the University of Manitoba. Currently, she serves as the Dean of the College of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Manitoba and as a research scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). Her research is primarily focused on health service delivery interventions aimed at improving maternity care in rural, remote, and urban regions across Canada. She is committed to developing innovative collaborative models of midwifery practice that enhance choices for families and provide comprehensive care during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Her work emphasizes patient-engaged research and the importance of addressing health priorities from a patient perspective to improve perinatal outcomes.
