Dr. Kelly Mahaney

Biography

Dr. Mahaney is a Pediatric Neurosurgeon with a clinical interest in Hydrocephalus, Craniovertebral Junction abnormalities, Spasticity, Spinal dysraphism, Myelomeningocele, Central Nervous System tumors, and Pediatric Epilepsy surgery. She completed her residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and received subspecialty training in Pediatric Neurosurgery at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and the Barrow Neurologic Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Dr. Mahaney is focused on advancing Neuro-endoscopic techniques within Pediatric Neurosurgical practice. Her research delves into understanding the role of iron in development post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus. Additionally, she has academic appointments at Stanford University, where she served as Interim Chief of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Division from 2022 to 2023. Dr. Mahaney is active in numerous professional organizations including the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery since 2015 and has board certifications from the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
