Biography

Kelly Ryan is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Michigan Medicine and a Faculty Associate in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Neuropsychology from Wayne State University in 2007. Dr. Ryan completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System and an APA-accredited post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. She has been a faculty member at Michigan Medicine since 2009, where she engages in clinical services within the Neuropsychology section, conducts clinical research, and participates in the training and supervision of postdoctoral residents and undergraduate trainees. Her clinical interests include adult neuropsychological assessment, dementia, and neurological psychiatric disorders. Her research interests focus on the use of neuropsychological tests to inform functional outcomes in medical and psychiatric populations, the impact of neuropsychological functioning on patient and caregiver well-being, and cognitive and functional decline associated with aging and dementia. Dr. Ryan is also interested in utilizing technology to capture cognitive and functional shifts in individuals with chronic mental illness and is a co-investigator in the Prechter Bipolar Research Program, working on a longitudinal study of bipolar disorder.
