Kelvin K. Droegemeier is a Professor of Atmospheric Science and Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Science Policy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He served as a Regent’s Professor in Meteorology and Weathernews Chair Emeritus at the University of Oklahoma from 1985 to 2023. During his career, he was the Vice President for Research at the University of Oklahoma from 2009-2018 and founded the Sasaki Institute, where he directed initiatives that applied research to societal needs. He has been actively involved in federal science policy, serving on the National Science Board from 2004-2016, including four years as vice-chair, and directed the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy from 2019-2021. He was also the acting director of the National Science Foundation in 2020. At the state level, he was appointed to the Oklahoma Governor's Science and Technology Council from 2011-2019, serving as Cabinet Secretary for Science and Technology from 2017-2019. Additionally, he has affiliations with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois.
