Biography

Dr. Kelvin Peh joined the Biological Sciences Institute at the University of Southampton in February 2013 and is currently an Associate Professor of Conservation Science. His academic career reflects a lifelong passion for conservation ecology, focusing primarily on tropical regions. Dr. Peh has benefited from the guidance of esteemed scholars throughout his education at the National University of Singapore, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala University, Leeds University, and Cambridge University. He takes great pleasure in mentoring research students, aiming to impart a comprehensive grounding in conservation science. His research interests include forest ecology, urban wildlife, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem services. Notably, he has played a significant role in the development of the Toolkit for Ecosystem Service Site-based Assessment (TESSA). Dr. Peh's work has led to considerable advancements in understanding the ecological and economic impacts of biodiversity, as evidenced by his involvement in various research collaborations and publications. Through ongoing projects, he aims to tackle pressing issues regarding environmental governance, habitat loss, and the impacts of global initiatives on biodiversity, particularly in Southeast Asia and Africa.
