Dr. Ken Arnold

Biography

Ken Arnold is the Director of Medical Museion and a principal investigator on the leadership team of the NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen. His role involves orchestrating a unique museum experience that blends adventurous research with innovative exhibitions and public activities, aiming to reimagine health and medicine for a wide range of visitors. Arnold's research is centered on the enduring significance of museums, particularly their role as trusted institutions that foster learning and cultural engagement. He is particularly interested in how spaces, objects, and curatorial approaches can create exciting exhibitions and collaborative activities that facilitate creative conversations. In the summer of 2022, he worked with the Wellcome Trust in London, focusing on the establishment of the Wellcome Collection, where he directed programming for over a decade starting in 2007. He has led numerous international cultural initiatives and oversaw a transdisciplinary research hub. Arnold frequently writes and speaks about the interactions between the arts, humanities, and sciences, particularly in the context of museums.
