Kenneth D. Forbus is the Walter P. Murphy Professor of Computer Science at Northwestern University. He received his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1984. His research interests include qualitative reasoning, analogical reasoning learning, spatial reasoning, sketch understanding, natural language understanding, cognitive architecture, reasoning system design, intelligent educational software, and the use of AI in interactive entertainment. He has been recognized as a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, the Cognitive Science Society, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including the Humboldt Research Award and has served as Chair of the Cognitive Science Society. Forbus is also the inaugural winner of the Herbert Simon Prize for Advances in Cognitive Systems.
