Dr. Ken Klassen

Biography

Ken Klassen is a Professor and the J. Page R Wadsworth Senior Chair at the School of Accounting and Finance, University of Waterloo. He serves as the Director of both the Centre for Taxation and the Global Economy and the Waterloo Centre for Taxation and Global Economy. His research focuses on understanding how taxes influence corporate decision-making, particularly how corporate data and decision-making are affected by changes in tax environments. Klassen has authored numerous publications exploring topics such as income shifting, corporate governance, and the roles of audit committees, among many other subjects. His academic contributions span journals like Contemporary Accounting Research and the Journal of Accounting Research, where he presents findings on international tax policies and investment decisions. With extensive experience as an editor and consultant within the academic community, he contributes robust insights into taxation and corporate finance. Klassen holds degrees from the University of Waterloo and Stanford University, including a PhD in Accounting. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has received various accolades for his contributions to accounting education and research, underscoring his commitment to the field.
