Biography

Ken Ritchie is a Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Waterloo and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on the dynamics of signaling complexes in the plasma membrane of cells, single-molecule biophysics, and the development of ultra-fast imaging techniques to observe individual molecules in living cells. His work has contributed significantly to understanding diffusion and signaling responses in biological systems. His selected publications include research on the mobility of the serine chemoreceptor and energy-dependent motion in bacterial membranes among others.
