Dr. Ken Young

Biography

Dr. Ken Young is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at Duke University and a member of the Duke Cancer Institute. He specializes in the diagnosis of hematologic cancers and has clinical expertise in analyzing tumors from bone marrow, lymphoid tissue, and the spleen, as well as pre-malignant hematologic conditions. His research interests include blood cancer classification and molecular genetic profiling, with a focus on the molecular mechanisms of tumor progression, cell-of-origin, biomarkers, and novel therapeutic strategies for lymphomas, myeloma, and leukemia. He serves as the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Pathology and directs the hematopathology division. Dr. Young has been involved in extensive clinical research and has collaborated with several groups, contributing significantly to the field of hematology, including the development of novel diagnostic algorithms and molecular genetic biomarkers for blood cancer. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals. Dr. Young's educational background includes a Ph.D. from Lund University in Sweden and an M.D. from Zhejiang University in China, complemented by fellowships and residencies in pathology at reputable institutions.
