Biography

Kendall Gray is a Clinical Professor of Law at Duke University School of Law, where he teaches first-year Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing. He joined the faculty in 2019, bringing with him extensive experience as a partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP in Houston, where he spent 22 years handling a range of appellate cases. Gray has argued before the Fifth Circuit, Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of Texas, as well as intermediate appellate courts. He became Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law in 2005, and was selected as a Texas 'Super Lawyer' in 2007, receiving recognition as a 'Local Litigation Star' by Benchmark in Texas's Fifth Circuit. His practice areas include commercial energy matters and complex health managed care issues, with a focus on ERISA preemption and addressing billing fraud by medical providers. Gray received his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Baylor Law School in 1994, and holds a Bachelor of Music Performance with distinction from the University of Wisconsin, obtained in 1989. He has also clerked for Justice Hightower of the Supreme Court of Texas and is admitted to practice in the State Bar of Texas and the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as various federal district and appellate courts.
