Biography

Kenneth Cadigan is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway, which plays critical roles in development, adult tissue homeostasis, and regeneration. The misregulation of this pathway is linked to various human pathologies, especially cancer. Cadigan's work involves exploring how beta-catenin accumulates in the nucleus and interacts with transcription factors of the TCF family to regulate Wnt target gene expression. His studies utilize model organisms such as Drosophila and C. elegans, as well as Xenopus embryos and human cell cultures, to identify new Wnt targets across diverse biological contexts. He earned his Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 1989 and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Basel and Stanford University.
