Biography

Kenneth M. Grundfast, MD, is an Emeritus Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine with over forty years of experience in practicing otolaryngology. Initially focused on pediatric otolaryngology, Dr. Grundfast has expanded his practice to adult patients with ear and hearing disorders. Throughout his career, he has led departments and served as Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology at the Children's National Medical Center, Interim-Chair at Georgetown University Medical Center, and has held the position of Chair of Otolaryngology at Boston University and Boston Medical Center for the past 18 years. An accomplished author, he has published more than one hundred reports in medical journals. Dr. Grundfast received his BA from Johns Hopkins University and his MD from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He completed his surgical internship at Tufts New England Medical Center and a fellowship in community health and social medicine. His research interests include pilot exploratory projects in palliative care for cancer patients and a study evaluating the effectiveness of endosheath techniques for flexible naso-pharyngo-laryngoscopes. He has held leadership positions in several professional societies and continues to contribute to the field through his research and mentorship at Boston Medical Center.
