Dr. Kenneth Hu

Biography

Kenneth S. Hu, MD, is a Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and co-director of the Head Neck Center at Perlmutter Cancer Center. He specializes in treating adults with various head and neck cancers, including oropharyngeal, laryngeal, and thyroid cancers. Dr. Hu's early interest in medicine was inspired by his family's experiences with cancer, leading him to focus on molecular and cellular biology during his education. His clinical work aims to provide innovative treatments while minimizing side effects for patients, often involving collaboration with surgical and medical oncologists to deliver comprehensive cancer care. Dr. Hu's research primarily involves developing new radiation treatment protocols and therapeutic strategies, particularly in the field of brachytherapy for tongue cancer and managing recurrent cancers. In addition to his clinical duties, he is actively involved in educational efforts within the field, serving as a board examiner for the American Board of Radiology and as chair of an international education subcommittee for the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology. He has received recognition for his contributions to the field as a fellow of ASTRO and has been listed in Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” series for the New York metro area since 2014.
