Dr. Kenneth Kent

Biography

Kenneth Kent received a Master of Science and PhD from the University of Victoria. He has held positions at the Faculty of Computer Science for the past 14 years and currently serves as the Director of the Information Technology Centre. Kent heads the Reconfigurable Computing Group and is the Director of the IBM Centre for Advanced Studies - Atlantic. He has supervised 70 graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and published about 100 refereed journal articles and conference papers. Kent was an Honorary Professor at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and was involved with the Institute for Visual Computing. His contributions include the J9 Java Virtual Machine, and he has been recognized as Faculty Fellow of the Year and as Principal Investigator for projects at the IBM Centre for Advanced Studies. In addition to his academic work, Kent is a co-founder and Chief Product Officer at WEnTech Solutions Inc., a software provider assessing waste-to-energy projects for optimal efficiency. He was the provincial runner-up in the 2017 New Brunswick Innovation Foundation Breakthru competition.
