Dr. Kenneth Knoespel

Biography

Kenneth J. Knoespel is a Professor Emeritus at the School of Literature, Media, Communication and the School of History and Sociology. His research focuses on changing narratives in the history of science and technology, with an emphasis on interpretive practices in the natural human sciences. He engages with cognition and visual practices, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary inquiry. Knoespel has held prestigious visiting appointments at institutions such as the University of Uppsala, Cornell University, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Russian Academy of Science in St. Petersburg. He collaborates closely with colleagues at the Center for Baltic and Eastern European Studies in Stockholm and the University of Paris 8. As a founding editor of Configurations: Journal of Literature, Science, and Arts, his contributions to academia are significant. In recognition of his work in Sweden, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor’s Degree from the University of Umeå. His expertise includes Future Education, Scandinavian and Russian Studies, and the Study of Material Culture, with a geographic focus on Europe and North America, addressing issues like Inequality, Social Justice, and International Development.
