Biography

Kenneth Lampl received a Doctor of Musical Arts in composition from the Juilliard School of Music. He studied under Milton Babbitt and John Corigliano. His international recognition began with the Prix Ravel in composition from the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau, France. His accolades include the Joseph H. Bearns Prize from Columbia University, several ASCAP Concert Music Awards, and fellowships from notable foundations. Lampl has composed twenty symphonic compositions, with performances by prominent orchestras such as the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He entered the film scoring sector in 1998 and has scored over 100 films, including notable titles like Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back and 2067, which became the highest-streamed Australian science fiction film. His recent credits include Furies and Sissy, the latter of which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival. Lampl is renowned not just as a film composer but also as an arranger and conductor, having worked with various artists and orchestras. As an ambient artist under the moniker Listening, he has attracted a substantial audience on Spotify. His career seamlessly blends concert music, film scoring, and ambient compositions, reflecting a dedication to artistic innovation.
